We had our first joint meeting between all members of the Japan’s side and Thailand’s side on August 22nd, 2024 online via Zoom. At this first meeting, we had some fundamental agenda to discuss before officially starting the project next year. Since this was the first time almost all members gathered together, we took the time to introduce ourselves and our part in this project. Then, Prof. Fukuda gave us a brief report about the results of the meetings with the relevant organization in Thailand when the Japan team visited Bangkok around 2 weeks before, highlighting that the organizations generally give positive impressions of our project. The initial version of Project Design Matrix was also shared to all team members so that everyone could have a better understanding of the goals, planned activities for each research, and expected output of the project.
We also had the chance to discuss some ideas of our project nickname. We think there is a need to have a project nickname for better promotion of the project. Among some idea alternatives, finally the “3DTraffic” nickname was chosen after all members took a vote. The “3DTraffic” name derives from three “Dee“s, which translates to “good things” in Thai, which represents the “faster, green, and safe” traffic management we aim to pursue in our study area in Bangkok.
The structure of project team, roles, and core members are also presented in this meeting. The project will have 4 research topics, and each topic will be led by one member from the Thailand’s side and one member from the Japan’s side.
Since the project itself will officially start next year, we will still have many works and actions to be done. We are looking forward for a good collaboration between both sides in the future.
* 3DTraffic is the abbreviation of our project title, Project for Data Driven Dynamic Transport Management in Emerging Metropolis for Climate Change Mitigation, which will take Bangkok as the study case.
